Everybody Wants to get into the act!:Superstar Wrestler “the Ultimate Warrior” disses The Occupy Movement

The Ultimate Dummy! Wrestling's Ultimate Warrior gives his best Fox News imitation

Well, I’m sure everyone by now has developed an opinion or two regarding the Occupy Wall Street movement, and there is no shortage of diatribes to view both Pro and Con across the Internet.  TMZ reports that Wrestling legend “The Ultimate Warrior” has jumped into the fray.

(TMZ) Wrestling legend Ultimate Warrior just called BS on the hordes of hipsters behindOccupy Wall Street — telling TMZ, they’re a bunch of poseurs, fueling the samecorporate giant they’re trying to take down.

In an ultra-rare appearance in full make-up, Warrior — real name Brian Hellwig — tells us, “I find it a little ironic that most of these kids own iPads and iPhones and all these material things. They’re a big part of the consumerism that goes on in this country.”
Warrior adds, “The biggest statement you can make is not to participate in the consumerism of it all. Don’t buy the stuff. Start living your own life. Practice what you preach.”

We never thought we’d say this, but the man’s got a point.

  1. This man, in that get-up, is calling other people ridiculous? Why does an old saying about a pot and a kettle leap to mind? How does he know they all own ipads and iphones? OWS is about as anti-consumerist as one can get. Man’s an idiot.

  2. Sure he’s got a point. It’s at the top of his head. The movement has nothing to do with “consumerism,” as such. It’s about the top income earners gaming the system to get away with things that would have been crimes a generation ago, doing the very things that led to the Great Depression, enabled by the deliberate dismantling of the laws put in place to prevent this repeat. It’s about the corporations and ultra-wealthy having the pull to buy and sell our politicians and We the People having less and less say in our own government. It’s about fighting for Democracy. Our system has been hijacked by those whose agenda is as anti-democratic as it gets. It’s about an effective American aristocracy, and the destruction of the safety net in order to preserve the benefits of great wealth to the detriment of the rest of us.

Those iphones and laptops are communication tools, and products that allow US to be the media, since the official media doesn’t seem particularly interested in performing its intended task safeguarding our democracy.

  3. Point? The point is that everyone can have what they need and more. Equality does not mean having to do without anything. Your argument is that in order to end corruption, war and poverty which is created by corporations, we have to do without.
I think the wrestler as well as the ‘we’ to which the article refers to have collided with the same ‘point’.
Democracy according to present day politicians……All people are equal but some people are more equal than others. Animal Farm by George Orwell. The book crits communism but seems to apply to present day democracy.
