Occupy SF Marches in Defense of Immigrant Rights Rally at Justin Herman Plaza. 3pm march to 16th and Mission St. Embarcadero BART Station, 16th St. BART Station Marching under the slogan “Inmigrantes son parte del 99%” (Immigrants are part of the 99%), Occupy SF and immigrant rights groups are coming together this Saturday, Nov. 26th to connect the voice of the immigrant communities to that of the 99%.
The economic crisis, brought about by the greed and corruption of Wall St. banks and corporations, has taken from the 99% for too long. As part of this 99%, immigrants have been even further exploited by these same banks and corporations that seek to make profits from oppressive immigration laws.
It was recently uncovered that Wells Fargo is one of the largest investors in Geo Group, Inc. — the second largest private prison company in the world contracted by state and federal governments. The group spends millions lobbying for stricter immigration enforcement. This is just one example of banks exploiting immigrants at the same time they are exploiting the 99%.
The weekly Occupy SF Saturday march will highlight the need to make these connections. The march will leave Justin Herman Plaza at 3pm and arrive to 16th and Mission, to meet other community groups of the Mission District.
